Where was emily ann event co. born?

In the front seat of my Honda HR-V. Let me explain.

Hey, it’s Emily here. Pull up a chair…brevity isn’t my strong suit.

Emily Ann Event Co. was born, like no other great thing ever, in the front seat of a Honda HR-V. When I was planning my own wedding, I had very little vacation time from work and I realized very quickly into the process that the wedding industry kept banking hours., as did I. Obviously, that’s due to vendors being busy on weekends and storefronts needing to be staffed to be open. I didn’t have a planner, or an assistant, or my sanity. What I had was determination to build out a day I had seen in my head for decades. I wanted to do it my way. On my terms. And with my vision in mind. And I did it all on lunch break in the front seat of my car.

To this day, I haven’t met my florist. I have only ever spoken with her on the phone and shared what became a small novel worth of emails over my year and a half of wedding planning. Most of my wedding day details came from talented small business owners on Etsy, inspired moments on Pinterest, and my own vision coupled with my drive to source things until I find exactly what I’m looking for. Often, I find a talented artisan whose body of work I love and who can ultimately make what I want as I describe it, and I lean on their skillset to create a masterpiece that, prior to, only lived in my head. The rest of my event props came from my dad whose talent with woodworking and logistics has made him something of my own personal prop-master extraordinaire. After building a 7ft flower wall and 8ft crystal moon for me, as well as a matching cloud from wallpaper that I sourced and sent to his house, he has notified me of his retirement on that front. My first few events wouldn’t have been what they were without him.

My wedding took place in September 2020 and after wading through six months of a not-so-proverbial planning hell amidst an unprecedented global crisis, national unrest, and federal and state sanctions, my wedding went off without a hitch. Of course, there were many hitches day of and in the months leading up to it, but to look at the photos you would never guess that. I feel as though I planned 5 weddings with the amount of problem-solving and pivoting I did, but I know how blessed I was to have a beautiful wedding with all of my healthy friends and family. I wouldn’t change my planning journey for the world. It taught me everything and more.

I knew that if I could fall in love with wedding and event planning in that climate, it meant that I had caught the industry bug. Quite simply, I love planning, designing, and executing events. I love to be inspired by other talented event designers and create events that are fully of my own flavor, but pack the punch my clients want. I want all that I do to be an extension of you, the client. I want you to step into the day and see yourself reflected in every single meaningful detail. What I do is for you and about you. It’s a partnership where I put in the work and I won’t stop until you come out of the other side with a perfectly curated event that you could only have imagined in your wildest dreams. I know what it means to have a day dedicated to you, to your love, your family, and your friends, and I’m here to make it happen. Trust me with your day, and I’ll treat it like my own. I can guarantee we’ll share some laughs, and maybe a strong drink or two, along the way.
